Guyanese investigators have found the clothing that the suspected gas station bomber wore during Sunday night’s deadly attack, police said.
The exact location was not provided but police said in a statement on Tuesday that the picture was that of “the clothing which the suspect wore during the perpetration of the deadly crime, which was found at a location in Region Three.”
No name of the suspect has been released, but police said they have positively identified him as a Spanish-speaking foreigner. There are nationals of several Spanish-speaking nationals living and working in Guyana.
The Guyana Police Force said three persons, including one Venezuelan, were arrested on Monday but the prime suspect was yet to be captured.
A six-year-old girl was killed and four others were injured when the device exploded at about 7:24 on Sunday night.
The explosion in the capital Georgetown, which vibrated buildings as far as two kilometers away, also damaged several nearby buildings.
The opposition We Invest in Nationhood and A Partnership for National Unity on Monday called for the registration of all foreigners in Guyana.
The government signed a contract about two years ago to introduce digital identification cards for citizens and foreigners here.
Sunday night’s bombing followed two similarly powerful ones at a police station and Guyana Power and Light substation. No one was injured in those. Police are yet to arrest the two Spanish-speaking perpetrators of those bombings.
