Police are investigating the wounding of a Venezuelan man, Geraldy Angel, allegedly by a group of other Venezuelans during an altercation on Sunday morning in a bar at Best Village, West Coast Demerara.
No arrest has been made and several persons were questioned, according to a police statement.
Police said, a Venezuelan woman, 20-year-old Alianda Martin of Vreed-en-Hoop, West Coast Demerara told investigators that she, her husband, and other family members were drinking at a bar at Best Village where an argument ensued at around 12:30 a.m. between she and her husband, Osmel Figuera.
According to the police, several other male Venezuelans began fighting, and one of them was armed with a cutlass. He allegedly chopped Angel to his left thigh.
Angel was rushed to the West Demerara Regional Hospital, where he was seen and examined by a doctor, treated, and admitted as a patient and reported in a stable condition.
