Chairman of the People’s National Congress Reform (PNCR) Shurwayne Holder has resigned from that position, according to a well-placed source.
Mr Holder declined to comment on the reason for walking away from the second highest party position after the Leader.
There are concerns in some quarters that senior and long-serving party members are resigning from the PNCR because they are dissatisfied that they have not been given senior or parliamentary positions.
Mr Holder was the PNCR’s geographical constituency candidate for Region Two (Pomeroon-Supenaam) but A Partnership for National Unity did not win any seats there.
Mr Holder’s resignation is the second to have hit the public in as many days, the first having been Mervyn Williams.
Mr Williams has also refused to immediately divulge the reasons for his decision. He also on Monday said he did not decide to leave the PNCR because he was not made General Secretary and noted recently he was not picked as vice presidential candidate with responsibility for Amerindian Affairs.
