Details are sketchy about the exact cause of Sam’s illness. The Ministry of Education appeared to have adopted a “hush” policy about the CEO’s health.

A spokesperson for the Ministry of Education insisted to Caribbean News Desk that the CEO is “ok.” “As far as I know he is ok. Why you all don’t give the man some space?,” the official said. However, the spokesperson could not say when Sam would be returning to work.

Sources said he was taken to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of a hospital after collapsing.

Sam was appointed CEO in 2011, after serving four years as Technical Adviser to the Minister of Education.

He studied at Swarthmore College in Pennsylvania and New York University.
