American lawyer killed in the Dominican Republic

Police there are continuing to probe the killing of a prominent Washington DC defence lawyer at his holiday home.

The body of 55-year old Van Teasley was found bound, gagged and strangled to death in his apartment at the weekend.

Officials said police were alerted by Teasley’s friend after no one answered his door bell or responded to phone calls.

The door to the victim’s apartment was unlocked when police arrived to investigate.

Teasley worked as a defense attorney in D.C. for more than 20 years.

The lawyer arrived in the Dominican Republic on Thursday and was due to return to the United States today- Tuesday.

He visited the Dominican Republic at least 12 times per year.
