Fire leaves three homeless

An early Wednesday morning fire at Mon Repos, East Coast Demerara has destroyed a house and left three persons homeless, Fire Chief Gregory Wickham said.

The names of the occupants were not immediately known.

Mr Wickham said the fire occurred at 5th Street where one building was destroyed and another was damaged slightly. He said no casualties were reported.

Another source said the fire occurred at about 3:30 AM. The woman reportedly said she was awakened by popping sounds and exited the house with her two children after which the house was engulfed by flames.
