City Council’s Public Relations Officer on forgery charge

Public Relations Officer of the Georgetown Municipality, Royston King was Monday arraigned on a charge of forgery and he was granted GUY$70,000 bail.

King,49, of Lot 3279 Canal Place, South Ruimveldt Park, Georgetown was not required to plea to the charge that was read to him by City Magistrate, Judy Latchman.

The charge states that on July 12, 2012 at Georgetown he allegedly wrote a letter to Beacon Foundation and signed it as Town Clerk, a portfolio that he did not hold at that time.

Prosecutor, Joel Ricknauth did not object to the bail being granted. King has to return to court on September 16 when he will appear before Chief Magistrate, Priya Sewnarine-Beharry.
