Bandits, armed with a cutlasses and a handgun, invaded a home chopped two occupants during a home-invasion and robbery at Albion, Corentyne, Wednesday night.Injured are 34-year Parbattie Bickram and her mother, 71-year old Ramkali Rampat. The incident occurred at 54 Doctor Bush, Albion about 8 PM. Rampat was admitted to a Hospital The bandits chopped Rampat on one of her hands and fingers as well as broad-sided her with a cutlass while she was in bed.
Bickram, a shrimp vendor at Port Mourant Market, was also chopped on her left forearm and broadsided during the 15-minute ordeal.
After hearing a motorbike arrive, the bandits fled with US$1,200; more than GUY$30,00, jewellery valued at GUY$250,000 and one laptop.
Thirteen-year old Lilawattie Mangru said she was at the bottom house playing music on the laptop when they heard someone yell โyo yo, donโt move.โ The masked men- two armed with cutlasses and the other with a handgun- then jumped the fence and invaded the home, demanding money.
When the money was handed over, Bickram said they demanded more and went upstairs by which time the motorbike arrived and they escaped.
