An Insurance Broker and his overseas-based friend were Tuesday night robbed near a city restaurant by two men who subsequently escaped in a car, police said.
Head of the Criminal Investigations Department, Senior Superintendent Leslie James said Insurance Broker, Danichar Singh,49, of Cummings Lodge was robbed of GUY$50,000 and one Blackberry. His friend, Toronto-based 49-year old Ronald Murli, was lashed to the back of his head and robbed of a pouch containing GUY$60,000 and other valuables.
James said the men were robbed as they were entering Atlantic Restaurant, Sheriff Street, Campbelville about 7:45 PM.
The police officer said the armed bandits escaped in a white car west on Pike Street, Campbellville, Georgetown.
