A woman, who burnt her nine year old daughter about her body with a hot knife because she allegedly stole her money, was Thursday jailed for two years.

Patricia Pashur of 151 East La Penitence, Georgetown was convicted for inflicting grievous bodily harm to her now 10-year old daughter.

Pashur, a hairdresser, was found guilty at the end of her trial before City Magistrate Geeta Chandan-Edmond. Back on January 22, 2013 she had pleaded not guilty to the offence.

Police Prosecutor, Jomo Nichols told the court that the woman blamed her daughter for stealing several GUY$1,000 bills. After the girl denied, her mother hot a knife on a stove and burnt her on her face and other parts of her body.

She now has several permanent scars as a result of that incident that occurred on January 5, 2013 when they were residing at Norton and Camp Streets, Georgetown.

In requesting the court to jail Pasha, the Prosecutor said there was no other punishment that could have been meted out to the woman for such cruelty to her child.

Nichols said there could be no excuse that the woman’s family would be affected by being behind bars because the State has since

The Prosecutor said that the injuries were severed and there is other disciplinary action that could have been used rather than such severe cruelty.

He said the woman being put away will not affect her family, since her three children have been already placed in the State’s care.
