Quincy Letlow

A 27-year-old welder on Wednesday fined and jailed after he pleaded guilty to grabbing two silver chains from a man on Mash Day.

City Magistrate Geeta Chandan-Edmond fined Quincy Letlow GUY$50,000 and sentenced him to nine months imprisonment. The penalties were imposed after Letlow, of 13 West Ruimveldt, admitted that he stole the jewellery from Verona Melville on February 23 on Vlissengen Road.

The chains were valued at GUY$70,000.

The prosecution’s case was that Melville was standing on the road when he was relieved of the items by Letlow who was described as a “repeat offender”.

Initially, he denied committing the offence but when the case was recalled, he pleaded guilty and said he wanted the case to end.
