Four men were Tuesday arraigned on several charges in connection with an armed robbery they allegedly committed at South Amelia’s Ward, Linden.They were not required to plea , and Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry remanded them to prison until February 11 when they will appear in the Christianburg Magistrates’ Court.
Thirty-two year old Ruel Williams of 657 Industrial Area, McKenzie; 19-year old Wesley Griffith of 283 Thomas Street, Linden and 27-year old Neilon Brumell Lower Kara Kara, Linden were not required to plea to the six charges committed on the Ramdehol family at 775 South Amelia’s Ward on January 31.
Court documents state that on January 31 they alleged robbed Martina Ramdehol of GUY$$400,000; Nafeeza Ramdehol of one gold ring, one gold chain and one Blackberry with a total value of GUY$107,000; Koolali Ramdehol of two gold rings valued GUY$50,000 ; Daveanand Ramdehol of one motor car PRR 4501, two gold rings and one gold chain with a total value of GUY$$3.4 million ; Lalta Ramdehol of a quantity of jewellery and other items valued GUY$228,000 , and Ryan Ramdehol of quantity of gold jewellery, and cellular phones valued more than GUY$600,000.
Griffith was jointly charged with Clifton Orina of 280 McKenzie, Linden with being in possession of one shotgun and three live cartridges without being the holder of a licence.
Prosecutor Police Inspector Michael Grant said the Ramdehols were at home about 8:13 PM when Griffith, Brummel and Williams demanded the items at gunpoint and escaped in Daveanand Ramdehol’s car.
Based on investigations, according to the police, the car was found, one cellular phone belonging to one of the robbery victims and the gun and ammunition were recovered.
Griffith, the prosecutor said, has a series of pending matters before the court.
Defence Lawyer, Gordon Gilhuys told the court that visible marks showed that Griffith was beaten by four policemen on his forehead, abdomen and scrotum during the investigations.
