Last Updated on Saturday, 26 December 2015, 21:00 by GxMedia

Mambo Bar- the scene of the bloody gun-attack that left one dead and two seriously injured
A man suspected to have organised a failed hit on a man at a city bar surrendered on Tuesday in the company of his lawyer and was detained for questioning, Deputy Police Commissioner Seelall Persaud said.

Persaud said the man turned himself after police had gone to his home in search of him because he was needed for questioning based on information that has surfaced.

Investigators have already questioned the intended target who was at Mambo Bar, Barr Street, Kitty, Georgetown during the gun attack late in the night of September 25.  The target narrowly escaped death when the gun was placed to head malfunctioned twice. He then fell off the chair on the ground.

It was then persons around were sprayed with bullets, leading to the death of 33-year old Shelly Basir-Lall and serious injuries to her husband 36-year old Raymond Lall, Permanand Persaud, of Mon Repos, East Coast Demerara and Babatunde Nedd, of Parika, East Bank Essequibo.

The Deputy Police Commissioner said police have received information that the man, who surrendered Tuesday, had a disagreement with the man who should have been killed.

Persaud said the intended target has been already arrested in Essequibo and taken to Georgetown where he has told crime sleuths that he had no problems with anyone and had no idea why he was targeted.
