The same assault rifles were fired at the two recent robberies at Wakenaam and Meten-Meer-Zorg that left one person injured and another dead.

Deputy Police Commissioner, Seelall Persaud said ballistic tests show that the identical 7.62 MM guns were used at the Wakenaam residence of 40-year old Rohan “Anand” Dhanayshure on September 7 and at Meten-Meer-Zorg on September 11 where 27-year old Zulfikar “Vicky” Golzar Namdar was killed.

The Chief of Criminal Investigations said no one has been so far charged with either of the incidents. Up to last Friday, police had suggested that they were making progress in the Meten-Meer-Zorg killing because they had learnt that Namdar was recently threatened by someone and a cellular phone belonging to him was found in the possession of someone.

While Persaud said investigators did not find any connection between the two families, sources said Danayshore and Namdar’s father-in-law might have known each other though they may not have been friends.

Moments after Namdar was killed, the masked and armed men grabbed men a bag containing GUY$1 million in cash and important documents.

Dhanayshure was shot while he was responding to a report of an invasion at his home when he was shot. His daughter was badly beaten and her boyfriend was assaulted and robbed of a gold band.

Dhanayshure owns vessels that transport logs for Barama Company Limited (BCL). Namdar was well-known in his community for working alongside his father who is a senior official of the Central Islamic Organisation of Guyana (CIOG).
