A Suriname-based man was Thursday arraigned for the murder oF Sheldon Cheddie alias DJ Cheddie and he was remanded to custody.
Omar Williams of Apanestraat K, 7 Light, Paramaribo, the capital of the neighbouring Dutch-speaking country, is accused of murdering Cheddie, a father of five, on September 9 at Tucville, Georgetown.
He was not required to plea to the indictable charge.
Chief Magistrate, Priya Sewnarine-Beharry remanded Williams to prison until October 18 for fixture.
By then, police hope to complete their investigations into the matter.
The facts of the case are that on the day in question, Cheddi was sitting at turning point with a group of friends when Williams came up to him and discharged several rounds.
The court was further told Williams alleged tried to escape but public spirited citizens gave chase.
The 37-year old Cheddi was a popular disc jockey, trader and plumber.
