Guyana Water Incorporated Tuesday said customers from Beterverwagting to Lusignan are experiencing low water pressure because of technical difficulties at the Good Hope Well Station, East Coast Demerara.
A source said the well screens malfunctioned and mud entered the well, forcing engineers to shut down the system and flush it to prevent customers from receiving muddy water. The well screens protect the water supply from mud and sediment as it is being exracted from the aquifer.
“GWI teams are currently working to restore normal service in the swiftest manner possible,” the company said in a statement.
During this period, affected customers will be provided with water at reduced levels from GWI’s Lusignan and Mon Repos water production facilities.
GWI says it regrets any inconvenience caused and wishes to assure all affected customers that every action is being taken to restore normal service.
