A 30 year old, unemployed male from Rubber Dam, Charity, Essequibo Coast, who allegedly stole a large amount of money from a Venezuelan was arrested early Saturday morning at a hotel at Charity.
Police said the suspect would soon be charged with larceny from the person and would be placed before the court.
Enquiries disclosed that the victim, 32 years old, Alexander Gregorio called ‘Alex’, of Puerta Ortiz, Venezuela, was standing in the hotel’s lounge, when the suspect approached him and relieved the victim of his brown wallet, which was in his front pants pocket containing US$5,200, his passport, a galaxy cellular phone and escaped.
A report was made and quick response by the police resulted in the suspect being apprehended with some of the stolen articles, US$2,600.00 and the phone.
