A 56-year-old man is now on $70,000 bail after appearing in court for stealing items from his brother’s bond.
The allegation against Andrew Collins Carter is that between September 30 and October 15, 2016 at Station Street Kitty, he broke and entered the storage bond of Kester Carter. There, he allegedly stole items amounting to $425,000. Among the items were fifteen cases of Banks bottles ($36,000); two garden hoses ($6,000; eight Jumbo barrels (64,000); two motorbike batteries ($11,000); one gas cylinder head ($3,500), a television set ($25,000); and other articles valued at $216,000.
Carter pleaded not guilty to the charge when it was read by Chief Magistrate Ann Mc Lennan. When the magistrate asked Police Prosecutor Neville Jeffers the defendant’s relation to the Virtual Complainant, Carter interjected before the prosecutor could respond, and said, “we both come out of the same bowels.”
He was placed in $70,000 bail and his matter has been transferred to Court 11 for November 7, 2016.
