The Guyana Police Force says one of three juveniles has been recaptured after escaping through a hole that they dug at the Juvenile Detention Centre at Sophia.
While an investigation is in process, one male juvenile has been recaptured, police said in a statement.
Police said the recaptured youth was one among three who escaped from the Juvenile Holding Centre, at Sophia, about 5AM Saturday, September 10, after they allegedly dug a hole in the lower flat and scaled the fence.
The recaptured juvenile, who hails from Adventure, Essequibo Coast, and was on remand for robbery under arms, was recaptured at Rose Hall Town, Corentyne, based on information received.
The two others were on remand for simple larceny and break and enter and larceny.
Efforts are being made to have them recaptured.
While a Demerara Waves journalist was taking a picture of the centre, detainees were shouting at him to remove or they would shoot him.
A policeman in the yard did not pay any heed to the threats as he might not have heard.
