Joseph Williams was not required to plea to the indictable charge when he appeared before City Magistrate Fabayo Azore.
He was remanded to prison until July 18 when the prosecutor is expected to give a status report.
Williams- of 59 Gordon Street, Kitty, Georgetown- is accused of the murder of Victor Da Silva on July 8 on Water Street, Georgetown in the course of committing a robbery in the sum of GUY$8 million which was the property of Albert Gajadhar.
The father of three bent his ahead to avoid news media cameras as he was being escorted by police out of the courthouse to a cell on the lower flat.
Two men opened fire on Gajadhar and Da Silva while they were turning south on Water Street from Cowan Street to go to a city bank.
Da Silva was shot to his chest and died. Gajadhar sustained a gunshot wound to his head, but he remained conscious and alert throughout.
Gajadhar drove his vehicle to an alleyway between GTM Insurance Company and Republic Bank (Limited) Robb Street from where he was assisted to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC).
Gajadhar, a remigrant from the United States, has been robbed of millions of dollars in the city since opening a gas station at Foulis, East Coast Demerara.
