The Guyana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) is probing the flipping of a light aircraft at Bath Settlement while taking off from an airstrip at Bath Settlement, West Coast Berbice.
Air Services Limited (ASL) said the accident involving a Cessna 206 aircraft registered as 8R-GMA occurred at about 5:45 PM. The domestic airline said no one was injured. “The five occupants on board the aircraft are all ASL officers who were provided with immediate support and were not injured in any way.”
Demerara Waves Online News was told the plane had gone to Bath to pick up an ASL staff member.
According to ASL, it was an awaiting the outcome of the GCAA probe. “Notwithstanding ASL’s own internal investigation, the Guyana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) is currently conducting its own requisite Investigation. The Management of ASL awaits the findings of the Investigative Report from the GCAA.”
Sources described the pilot as “very senior.”
That incident involving the ASL plane occurred several hours after an explosion rocked the right wing of a Britten Norman Trislander while it was undergoing routine maintenance at Roraima Airways’ hangar at the Ogle International Airport.
An engineer, Anil Rampersaud, sustained second degree burns and a female suffered from shock and trauma.
