Surinam Airways introducing third weekly flight from Miami to Guyana

Surinam Airways announced Tuesday the introduction of a third flight weekly to Georgetown, Guyana beginning May 12.

Henk Fitz-jim, the airline’s North America manager said that the flight will be a permanent fixture on the airline’s scheduled service to Guyana and is in response to the growing demand by the Guyanese American community as well as “the satisfaction which the Guyanese community has enjoyed by flying Surinam Airways since we began this route to Guyana in April 2012.”

The third flight will be on Thursday of each week, adding to the airline’s Tuesday and Saturday service which leaves Guyana at 11.30 a.m. arrives Miami at 4.00p.m. and leaves for Guyana at 5.30 p.m. arriving at 10.00 p.m.
“This is a very convenient schedule for passengers in both directions since they can make connections coming into Miami either from Guyana or from cities around the US on their way to Guyana. It does not require any overnighting. So the convenience of the flights coupled with our excellent customer service and competitive fares have made Surinam Airways the first choice of Guyanese travelling to and from Florida,” Fitz-Jim said.

Surinam Airways will use its Boeing 737 300 series aircraft for this service offering 118 economy and eight (8) business class seats. The airline permits passengers one free piece of checked baggage not exceeding 50 pounds and charges $15 for a second piece of luggage.

Fitz-Jim said he and a team from the airline will be in Guyana as part of a trade and investment mission next week to discuss with Guyana Government and private sector officials plans for the airline’s expanded involvement in the Guyana market.

Surinam Airways is a sponsor of several events and activities in Florida to mark Guyana’s 50th Independence anniversary including next week’s trade and invest mission.
