The body of a woman, who was last seen leaving her home to uplift a package, was Tuesday morning discovered in a canal at Cummings Lodge, East Coast Demerara.
Investigators believe that the body is that of Simone Hackett who went missing days ago.
The 25-year old Hackett left her ‘C’ Field, Sophia home at about 8:30 PM on Saturday, April 16, 2016 to uplift a package from someone at the Mahdia Bus Park, Hadfield Street, Stabroek, Georgetown.
Relatives said she had named the person as “Dexter” from whom she was expected to collect the package which was being sent by her son’s father for the boy’s birthday.
She reportedly told a relative that she had been asked to stand on the Railway Embankment by Dexter because he had changed his route.
