Two of three men, who were allegedly involved in a robbery on the West Coast Berbice, have been arrested and a quantity of cash and phone cards found in their possession.
Police said that one toy gun was found in the car that the men were travelling in.
Investigators said that at about 11:20 AM Wednesday, Rosaline Ayube, 41 years, and Sultan Ayube, 43 years, both of Plantation Hope, Bath Settlement, WCB, were attacked and robbed.
The robbers carted off $253,000.00 , a quantity of gold jewellery valued $300,000.00, cell phone cards valued at $690,000.00 and a Blackberry cell phone valued $50,000.00 by three men, one of whom was armed with a handgun.
Investigations revealed that the victims were in their home when the men entered through an open door, held up them up and relieved them of the articles mentioned and escaped in a motor car PRR 2880.
Police said patrols were alerted and quick response led to the motor vehicle used by the perpetrators being intercepted at a roadblock at Good Hope, ECD.
Two men were arrested and a black haversack containing $38,000.00, a number of phone cards and a toy gun were recovered.
Investigations are in progress.
