A policeman was Sunday morning shot to his abdomen by a colleague while they were uplifting firearms at the Tactical Services Unit, Eve Leary, multiple sources confirmed.
Constable Christopher Albert,20, was shot in his lower abdomen and the .38 bullet exited his buttock.
Hospital sources listed his condition as stable. He was taken for surgery in a conscious and alert state.
Constable Hope, from whose assigned revolver the bullet was fired, was placed under close arrest.
“Constable Hope and Constable Albert were standing in line to uplift firearms and when Constable Hope uplifted his firearm and was loading it, he accidentally shot off a round which hit Constable Albert in his lower abdomen,” said well-placed sources.
