A high-ranking olice officer in the Berbice Division said the woman was re-arrested at Springlands before she could have crossed the Corentyne River to her native country.
The police officer said the yet to be identified woman scaled the prison fence by tieing a bed sheet to the elevated security outpost at about 4:30 AM.
She, according to the police officer, entered a waiting car.
However, at about 9:30 AM she was arrested at the Number 78 Village back-track (illegal) crossing.
