Guyana will soon have a fifty-dollar bill in time for the country’s 50th Independence anniversary next year, according to Governor of the Bank of Guyana Dr. Gobind Ganga.He said no firm decision has been made yet about whether the note would be put into limited or long-term circulation.
Ganga said the specimen is currently being fine-tuned with the printers of Guyana’s currency notes.
The Bank of Guyana is expected to release the new currency note around April or early May, 2016 in time for the country’s 50th Independence Anniversary on May 26.
Guyana attained political Independence from Britain in 1966.
