GTT, Cable and Wireless to offer high-end services to businesses; GTT unveils new logo

GTT’s CEO, Justin Nedd and Chief Commercial Officer, Gert Post unveil the company’s new logo.

The Guyana Telephone and Telegraph Company (GTT) and Cable and Wireless Communications (CWC) are Thursday expected to hold talks on how companies here can benefit from secure data storage and other high-end facilities.

“Cable and Wireless has some services and some advantages that we don’t have to make GTT services better, to bring more to the customers, to bring more to Guyana,” GTT’s Chief Executive Officer Justin Nedd told  reporters after the unveiling of its new modern logo and retail store design

Apart from the absence of 4G high speed mobile data because government is yet to provide the required frequency spectrum, Nedd said the logo change – for the first time in 23 years- marks the beginning of much improved customer service and care. “Part of the ‘doing more’ is fixing your land lines promptly, getting more Internet speeds, the other part of doing more is providing more devices, giving you better value, giving better quality care, providing more for our employees, doing rural development and providing more for Guyana as a whole,” said Nedd.

Nedd ruled out that company taking over the local mobile, land and data provider which has about 400,000 customers.

GTT’s Chief Commercial Officer, Gert Post explained that Cable and Wireless has a Pan Caribbean portfolio that could benefit Guyanese business customers in the area of hosting, shared applications, co-location, risk management and data back-up which GTT could resell rather than invest its own funds. “If we can offer that together, we don’t have to build it ourselves. These guys (Cable and Wireless) have multimillion dollar data centres so we better use their services and see what it can mean for our customers here in Guyana in a way to do more. It’s better than doing everything ourselves,” he said.

GTT and Cable and Wireless have existing business relationships in the area of cellular roaming and the connection of the local telecoms provider’s submarine cable through Trinidad to Miami via Columbus Communications.

Columbus and Cable and Wireless completed their merger on March 31, 2015. FLOW , formerly LIME, provides land, cellular and data services across the  mainly English-speaking Caribbean.
