Several persons have been questioned in connection with the firing of a gunshot in the vicinity of Office of the President Friday night, which resulted in damage to a vehicle belonging to that office, the Guyana Police Force said Saturday.
“CCTV footage is being reviewed and several persons have been questioned as part of the ongoing investigation,” police said in a statement.
Investigators said a suspected 9 mm warhead was also found on the ground in front of the motor bus and was lodged pending examination.
Investigators said the incident occurred at about 9:15 PM.
“Preliminary investigations revealed that a police rank who was on duty at the location reportedly heard what sounded like a gunshot coming from the direction of the Square of the Revolution.
During subsequent checks within the compound, an indentation with surrounding cracks was observed on the windscreen of a motor bus attached to the Office of the President, which was parked on the northeastern side of the compound facing south,” police said in a statement.
