Two masked motorcyclists, who were clad in dark clothing, robbed a man of his motorcycle and other valuables late Saturday night on the Melanie Damishana Public Road, East Coast Demerara, police said Sunday.
The Guyana Police Force said they would be reviewing Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) footage to help them identify and locate the suspects who fled in a southern direction after the robbery.
Investigators were told that the robbery occurred at about 11 PM on Saturday April 18, 2026, the 43-year-old self-employed man of Non Pariel, East Coast Demerara was riding his motorcycle when he observed two motorcycles behind him from the vicinity of the Lusignan traffic light.
He also told police that upon reaching Melanie Cinema Road and turning into the road, the suspects reportedly followed him. He said the suspects rode up alongside the victim and caused him to fall with his motorcycle.
The victim said one of the suspects then allegedly pulled what appeared to be a handgun from his waist and pointed it at him, while the others relieved him of a silver metal wedding ring, a Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra cellular phone, GY$60,000 and his black XR motorcycle bearing registration number CR 6379.
