Tenant shoots landlord after he objected to narcotics sale on premises

Last Updated on Monday, 13 April 2026, 21:47 by Writer

Three persons, including an overseas-based woman, were on Sunday nursing injuries after they were shot during a feud between two men late on Saturday afternoon on Victoria Road, Plaisance, East Coast Demerara, police said.

The Guyana Police Force did not disclose the names of those injured, only saying they are a 38-year-old businessman of Victoria Road, Plaisance, a 36-year-old security guard of Graham Street, Plaisance and a 52-year-old overseas-based Guyanese woman of Ben Profit Drive, Plaisance.

Police said they have arrested the three persons and seized two guns as part of the ongoing probe.

The weapons seized were one 9mm Luger pistol, along with two magazines, one containing 22 live 9mm rounds and the other containing seven live 9mm rounds which were lodged pending investigation.

Investigators were informed that the two injured men were known to each other and reportedly have an ongoing conflict arising from a previous incident.

Police said at about 5:36 p.m. on Saturday, one of the men was at a bus shed in the area, while the other was in the vicinity of a nearby business place.

Upon seeing each other, both allegedly discharged rounds in each other’s direction, police added.

As a result of the exchange, police said the businessman was injured to his left ankle, while the security guard received injuries to both feet.

In addition, a 52-year-old overseas-based Guyanese woman of Ben Profit Drive, Plaisance, who was in the vicinity, received an injury to her left leg, police also said.

Investigators visited and processed the scene, where several 9mm spent shells were recovered.

Investigators were expected to review CCTV footage as part of their investigation.
