Mr Jermaine Mickle

The Customs Anti-Narcotics Unit (CANU) on Saturday said that a man was allegedly attempting to smuggle marijuana and cocaine to the North West District (NWD) for use there.

Agents said they arrested 46-year-old Jermaine Mickle of Mon Repos, East Coast Demerara on Friday with two cardboard boxes containing 12.1 kilogrammes of marijuana and 1.2 kilogrammes of cocaine.

Packets of marijuana and cocaine that CANU says were found in two boxes that were being carried by Jermaine Mickle at the T&HD Goods Wharf, Water Street, Kingston.

The man was intercepted by CANU agents at the Transport and Harbours Department (T&HD) ‘Goods’ Wharf, Water Street, Kingston, Georgetown with the two boxes that contained 13 parcels of marijuana and one parcel of “rock cocaine”, CANU said.

Head of CANU, James Singh said the drugs were being shipped to the North West District “to be sold in the communities.”
