A man, who allegedly stabbed his reputed wife to death, has injured himself and is hospitalised under police guard, the Guyana Police Force said on Monday.
Police said the welder, 65, and Caslene Toney, 39, both of Long Creek, Soesdyke-Linden Highway, had a disagreement that led to the stabbing.
“It is alleged that the suspect armed himself with a sharp object and inflicted injuries upon the victim,” police said.
Ms Toney was escorted to the Linden Hospital Complex where she received treatment and was subsequently transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation, where she succumbed to her injuries.
Police also said the weapon believed to have been used in the incident was retrieved and lodged as evidence.
