The 21st Chinese Medical Team has arrived in Guyana to assist in the further improvement of the country’s healthcare system, the Ministry of Health said in a statement.
The 18-member team, representing various medical specialties including internal medicine, surgery, pediatrics, obstetrics and gynecology, ophthalmology, traditional Chinese medicine, and public health, met with the health minister Dr Frank Anthony to share details about their composition, areas of service, and upcoming activities.
Dr Anthony expressed his appreciation for the longstanding collaboration between Guyana and the People’s Republic of China, noting the invaluable contributions made by Chinese medical teams in strengthening the country’s healthcare system, the health ministry said.
He reportedly reaffirmed his ministry’s commitment to supporting their continued work in improving access to quality healthcare across Guyana.
Also present were Director of Medical and Professional Services, Dr. Navindranauth Rambaran and Acting Chief Medical Officer Dr. Jeetendra Mohanlall.
