Chancellor Yonette Cummings resumes duty, Chief Justice George yet to occupy High Court chambers

Last Updated on Thursday, 23 October 2025, 21:50 by Writer

The Chief Justice’s chambers (right) with Justice Navindra Singh’s white vehicle parked under the stairs leading to the chambers. At right is the conference room that Acting Chief Justice Roxane George-Wiltshire occupied briefly on her return.

Acting Chancellor of the Judiciary, Yonette Cummings has resumed duties from vacation leave, paving the way for Justice Roxane George-Wiltshire to return to the post of Acting Chief Justice.

In Justice Cummings’ absence, Justice George-Wiltshire acted as Chancellor of the Judiciary.

Justice Navindra Singh was elevated to the position of acting Chief Justice at that time.

Chief Justice George-Wiltshire was up to Thursday, however, yet to resume occupancy of the Chief Justice’s chambers located at the northwestern end of the High Court complex.

Sources said that she opted to occupy the High Court’s conference room located on the southeastern end of the High Court.

Attorney General Anil Nandlall did not immediately respond to calls or a WhatsApp query on what is being done to ensure Chief Justice Roxane George resume occupancy of her chambers now that Chancellor Yonette Cummings has resumed duty from vacation leave.
