Man allegedly rapes disabled woman- police

Last Updated on Sunday, 21 September 2025, 10:38 by Writer

A 32-year-old man of ‘C’ Field Sophia Squatting Area, Greater Georgetown has been charged with rape of a child under 16, but he skipped station bail and has not appeared in court to answer to the charge, the Guyana Police Force (GPF) said on Saturday.

The law enforcement agency said at 6:24 p.m. on Saturday that a wanted bulletin was being prepared for the accused, Timothy Fraser, but up to 10:30 p.m. none was forthcoming.

Mr Fraser, a businessman, was arrested on September 6 at about 8:30 a.m. and placed in custody for the offence.

Police said he remained in custody on GY$200,000 bail for about six days because he was unable to get that amount of money. According to the GPF, the bail was reduced on September 15 for Mr Fraser to have pretrial liberty.

According to police, the case filing was delayed pending the forensic interview report.

The law enforcement agency further explained that the report was obtained, and the matter was filed on September 16 after gaining advice for him to appear before the court on September 17.

Police said when the matter was called, the accused man failed to appear. “Efforts were made yesterday (Friday) to serve a summons on him for court, but he could not be located at his Sophia home.

A police wanted bulletin is being prepared, as indications are that he left for the interior, police added.
