Four men, who were near where police seized a quantity of cocaine and marijuana, have been arrested as part of investigations, the Guyana Police Force (GPF) said.
The 51.98 grammes of cocaine and 12.25 grammes of marijuana were found in the vicinity of the Farmers’ Wharf at the Supenaam waterfront, police added.
The drug find and arrest of the suspects were done Tuesday at about 11:17 p.m. when the four identifiable males were observed at ‘Dunchie’s Shop’.
“A search was conducted around the area and a short distance away in front of the Farmer’s Wharf, the ranks found a transparent plastic bag containing several pieces of white rock-like substance suspected to be cocaine and another transparent plastic bag containing leaves, seeds and stems suspected to be cannabis.
“The suspected narcotics (cocaine and marijuana) were shown to the men, and they all denied ownership,” police said in a statement.
The four men, along with the suspected narcotics, were taken to the Aurora Police Station.
