Former Member of Parliament (MP) Dharamkumar Seeraj has arrived in India to present his credentials as Guyana’s High Commissioner to that country, the Minister of Foreign Affairs said today.
Mr Seeraj’s replacement as the People’s Progressive Party Civic (PPPC) MP is Mr Suresh Singh who took the oath on Friday.
Minister Hugh Todd confirmed to Demerara Waves Online News that Mr Seeraj arrived in the Indian capital Delhi, but no date has been set yet for him to present his credentials.
Mr Seeraj, a former long-serving President of the Guyana Rice Producers Association, replaces Attorney-at-Law Charrandass Persaud who returned to Guyana in October 2022 after he had embarrassed his homeland by verbally abusing an Indian professor and animal rights activist who had gone to his residence in search of a dog.
