Businessman Lawrence Duprey has died, several sources close to him have confirmed to the Trinidad Express.

Duprey was best known for his role as the former executive chairman of CL Financial and director at Colonial Life Insurance Company (CLICO) (Trinidad) Limited.

In 2009, the Trinidad and Tobago government had initiated a multi-billion-dollar bailout of CLICO.

CLICO had failed operations in Guyana.
