A 31- year old resident of Aranaputa, North Rupununi, has been arrested for the alleged murder of his father, which occurred Wednesday evening.
The Guyana Police Force said enquiries disclosed that the victim, Danielston Stephen, 50 years, was imbibing alcohol with several friends at his neighbour’s house after which he went home about 7:30 PM.
“An argument ensued between himself and the suspect who allegedly stabbed him multiple times about his body with a knife. He was rushed to the Annai Health Post and was pronounced dead on arrival,” police said in a statement.
The body is presently at the Lethem Hospital Mortuary awaiting a post-mortem examination.
Meanwhile, police also say they are investigating the alleged murder of Junior Moses, 44 years, a farmer, of Barima, North West District, which occurred about 6:40 Wednesday evening  at Ela Landing, Barima.
“The victim and a seventeen year old male, were consuming alcohol, when a argument erupted between the two, during the process the suspect armed himself with a knife and stabbed the victim once to his abdomen and escaped,” police said.
The victim was taken to the Mabaruma Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
The body is presently at the hospital’s mortuary, awaiting a post-mortem examination.
The suspect has since been apprehended and is assisting with the investigation.
