A father of five has been remanded to prison, after appearing in court for stealing household items worth GYD$740,000.

It is alleged that on October 5, 2016 at Sheriff and Enachu Streets, Section K Campbellville, Keon Crandon broke and entered the dwelling home of Diana Panday and stole items which included three gas bottles (GYD$20,000), a four-burner gas stove (GYD$50,000), a Dell Desktop computer (GYD$200,000) 42″ television set (GYD$100,000), three flower vases (GYD$20,000), and articles of clothing (GYD$60,000).

The accused pleaded not guilty to the charge, and when Magistrate Judy Latchman questioned him on whether or not he has any previous matters before the courts he responded in the negative.

However, this claim was refuted by Police Prosecutor Sean Gonsalves, who told the court that the defendant not only confessed to the present crime, but he had a similar matter of simple larceny before the courts. Crandon was then remanded to prison and his matter will be recalled on November 2, 2016 for statements.
