Ten persons were Wednesday nabbed by Guyanese police in connection with the interception of more than six kilogrammes of cocaine concealed in a consignment of frozen fish that was bound for the United States.
Police said that at about 2:10 AM on Wednesday, June 8, 2016 anti-narcotics police seized 6.44 kilos of the narcotic at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport.
The shipment of frozen fish consisted of several boxes, investigators said.
“The bust comes as the Guyana Police Force is intensifying its efforts to clamp down on the scourge of drug trafficking. The cargo was destined to be shipped to the United States of America,” police said in a statement.
