Two held for gold heist

Last Updated on Friday, 5 February 2016, 12:47 by Denis Chabrol

The son of a well-known gold miner has been robbed of a huge quantity of raw gold, and two persons have been arrested in connection with the heist, police said.

Guyana Police Force investigators were told that at about 3:15 PM on Thursday, 4th February, 2016, Akeem Chase of Craig, East Bank Demerara was driving a motor vehicle along Second Street, Craig, when four men in another vehicle drove across the road and blocked his path.

Three of the men, who were armed with firearms, exited and held up Chase, 21, years old,  and took away a large quantity of raw gold and escaped.
