A man, believed to have bludgeoned an elderly woman to death with a spanner at Montrose, East Coast Demerara, has been arrested, according to senior police investigator.
Head of the Criminal Investigations Department, Senior Superintendent Wendell Blanhum told Demerara Waves Online News that “we have somebody who fits that description.”
He said police now has to match the suspect’s fingerprints with those found at the scene
Blanhum declined to say whether the man has admitted to committing the act.
The arrest of the man came one day after police on Monday released an image of the man seen in surveillance video killing the woman and carting off valuables. She has been identified as 77-year old Carmen Ganesh.
Ganesh was the caretaker of the house in which she was killed. She was also involved in a dispute over her land that is located nearby.
