Guyana’s President Donald Ramotar congratulated St. Kitts and Nevis’ Prime Minister-elect, Timothy Harris whose opposition alliance swept to power in Monday’s general election.
Harris and several others dislodged Dr. Denzil Douglas and his St. Kitts Nevis Labour Party from office for the first time in 20 years.
Ramotar is leading his People’s Progressive Party Civic against an opposition alliance in general elections due on May 11, 2015.
Both sides are confident of victory.
Following is the Guyanese leader’s congratulatory message to the St. Kitts and Nevis Prime Minister-elect.
“Dear Dr Harris,
On behalf of the Government and the people of the Republic of Guyana, I wish to convey our sincere congratulations to you and the Team Unity on your success in the national elections of St. Kitts and Nevis.
I extend to you my best wishes as you embark on the mandate entrusted to you by the people of St Kitts and Nevis.
I take this opportunity to express my hope for the further strengthening of the relations between our two countries. I also look forward to our collaboration at the regional, hemispheric and international levels for the betterment of the peoples of the Caribbean Community.
Please accept, Prime Minister Elect, the assurances of my highest consideration.
Donald Ramotar
President of the Republic of Guyana”
