A major blizzard, Winter Storm Juno, forced Caribbean Airlines to cancel several  flights to and from New York on Monday and Tuesday.

The airline said that as of noon, it has cancelled, delayed or consolidated many flights to/from JFK for Monday and Tuesday and other changes could be expected depending on the severity and clean-up required after the storm.

The carrier said that it would waive change/cancellation fees and fare differences for customers travelling on those days.

Caribbean Airlines advised customers that they may rebook their flights for travel through Saturday, January 31, 2015 prior to the departure of their originally scheduled flight.

Customers with cancellations or significantly delayed flights may opt for a refund at a service charge of 50 USD. Original travel must have been booked on or before Sunday, January 25, 2015.

The carrier said that its teams are working diligently to minimize the impact on your schedules and will advise of new departure times as they become available.

More than 2,000 commercial flights have been cancelled Monday in New York and the Northeast as a snowstorm with strong winds advances toward the region, airlines said.

The storm, which officials in New York called one of the most powerful in recent years, forced the cancellation of 465 flights at John F. Kennedy International Airport, the main international terminal on the East Coast.

The storm that meteorologists have named Juno is expected to arrive in force Monday night and will dump more than three feet of snow on New York City, officials said.
