Former government minister , Dr. Faith Harding died Friday afternoon at a city hospital, a family member confirmed.
She was in her late 60s.
Sources said that she succumbed to a respiratory ailment at the St. Joseph’s Mercy Hospital.
She had served as Public Service Minister in the Desmond Hoyte-led People’s National Congress (PNC) administration up to 1992.
In the run-up to the 2011 general and regional elections, she had contested for the leadership of the PNC-Reform.
After that the Child Psychologist by profession went on to work with United Nations organisations in a number of hot spots like East Timor and Liberia.
She was the wife of the President of the Guyana Gold and Diamond Miners Association, Patrick Harding.
