A man was Monday convicted and sentenced to three years imprisonment for stealing a number of items from the office of Attorney-at-Law, Emily Dodson.Twenty-four year old Gary Kanhai of Thomas Street, Georgetown was convicted for break and enter and larceny committed between October 11 and 12, 2014 at her office located on the same street.
After Kanhai vehemently denied that he had burglarized the premises but had only transported a number of items in a wheelbarrow for GUY$500, Chief Magistrate Priya-Sewnarine Beharry informed him that he could still be charged with the principal offence of break and enter and larcent because he assisted in carting off the articles.
The repeat offender insisted that two other persons had entered Dodson’s Chambers.
Police said that Kanhai was seen walking out of Dodson’s office with one Dell computer, one toilet set, one wheelbarrow, two voltage stabilisers and one web camera with a total value of GUY$373,000.00.
