Social change organisation, Blue CAPS, has launched its second Youth Leadership Development Programme at the Heavenly Light World Outreach Fellowship in Albouystown.
The programme, which will be conducted over three weekends, is based on the Blue CAPS’ Building Communities Through Leadership Training and Service (BCLTS) curriculum. The event was launched on Friday, August 15.
The training is intended to enhance the leadership, planning, organizing, problem-solving and decision-making skills of the participants.
Mr. Eric Phillips was the featured presenter on the opening day and encouraged participants to identify themselves as a perfect product and to become servant leaders.
On Saturday August 16, participants were exposed to modules that dealt with critical and analytical thinking, public speaking and adaptive leadership.
Blue CAPS’ Founder and Executive Chairman Mr. Clinton Urling, urged those present to utilise the skills they acquire over the coming weeks to become change and development agents for Guyana. He also announced that Blue CAPS would be opening its Headquarters soon and that regular training, discussions and debates will take place there.
The BCLTS 2 programme will conclude with Blue CAPS undertaking a community service project for the Albouystown community after consultations with the residents.
Blue CAPS is a non-partisan civic NGO that develops and advocates public policy prescriptions for a better Guyana.
