Two men were Tuesday arraigned for the murder of a taxi driver whose body was found in a sugarcane field at Ruby Backdam, Parika days after he disappeared.Appearing before Chief Magistrate, Priya Sewnarine-Beharry for the indictable charge were Asraf Ali, 17, and 18-year old Abdul Razack.
They were not require to plea to the charge that stated between June 10 and June 14 at Parika Backdam, East Bank Essequibo they murdered Dhanraj Latchman in the course of a robbery.
Specifically, they allegedly murdered the young man to steal motor car PMM 9823 and one Blackberry cellular phone and another.
The matter was transferred to Leonora Magistrates’ Court for June 24. That court is responsible for the magisterial district in which the offence was allegedly committed.
Latchman’s body was found early in the night of Friday June 13, 2014. He went missing on Wednesday after telling his mother that he was going to Parika to take two identifiable persons.
Prior to the discovery of his bloated body, his abandoned car was found on Tuesday in Parika.
